Now that the war is through with me
Im waking up i cannot see
That there's not much left of me
Nothing is real but pain now
Hold My Breath as i Wish For Death
Oh Please God Wake Me"
-Metallica, One, And Justice For All-
Metallica, what can be said? Possibly the best Metal band in existence, barring none from their coveted throne of Anger, Death, Speed, Hatred, and Fury. A collaboration of Classical meets Rock and roll, for anyone out there who dosent know who Metallica is, you need to get out of your small ass mind and expand your horizons
Started in 1981 by James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, the band was created out of love for the metal sound coming out of Great Britian at the time, with bands such as Diamond Head and Motorhead becoming the major influences on a would be tennis star and a youth from a Christian Science home. |
Forged from Anger, European INfluence and a nonunderstanding of the LA Rock Scene, Metallica was born to create somthing louder, faster, heavier, and more powerfull then anything on the scene at the time. The result was the best metal band on the planet, a sound so raw yet refined, a forerunner for a new type of music, the likes of which was just becoming main stream, but had never been seen before in America |
In 1981 Metallica picked up a new Bass player, Cliff Burton. His amazing riffs and takes on music changed and forged the sound of many songs on metallicas first three albums, and unlike most bass players of his time, he was given solo work in songs such as Orion, Call of Ktulu and the immortal Anestesia: Pulling Teeth. Cliff died in a tragic buss accident in 1986 and the metal world was shocked at the loss of one of their own. We miss you Cliff, you where an inspiration to us all. He was replaced by Jason Newstead of Flotsam and Jetsam, and Jason has helped keep Metallica Rocking ever since. |
After ANd Justice for All, and Metallica; Metallica, The band went on a three year tour and kicked everyones asses. They toured anywhere they could and some places two or three times. After they got back they all took a break and decided to relax. In 1996 Metallica released its most controversial work to date, Load, and the follow up to it in 1997, Reload. Two albums that have sparked much debate in Metallica fans to whether the band sold out or not.....Yet they sell out every seat everyplace they play. I have my opinions on the albums, I like them both, because i feel metallica needed to change. |
